Amble Branch
5.75 mile branch primarily built to carry coal to the port of Amble, some 750,000 tons/year of which was being handled in the 1920s. The line was single track from Chevington to Broomhill and double track from Broomhill to Amble.
- 1849 York, Newcastle & Berwick Railway open a freight only line from a junction near Chevington to Amble on 5 September.
- 1878 Station opened at Broomhill.
- 1879 New station at Amble opens and passenger service introduced from Chevington.
- 1930 Passenger service withdrawn on 7 July.
- 1964 Goods service withdrawn at Broomhill on 4 May and at Amble on 14 December.
- 1969 Coal traffic ends with complete closure of line on 6 October.
