Kelso Branch

Double track line of 23.5 miles.

1845 Newcastle & Berwick Railway Act includes powers to build a branch from Tweedmouth to Kelso.
1849 Line opens to Sprouston on 27 July.
1851 Line reaches Kelso on June 1, creating an end on junction with the NBR St Boswells to Kelso Branch.
1861 Twizell station opened.
1887 Alnwick to Coldstream Branch opens.
1948 Following the August floods East Coast Main Line trains diverted over branch for 3 months.
1955 By July only Coldstream and Norham Stations remain open for passengers.
1962 Goods service withdrawn at Twizel.
1964 Passenger service completely withdrawn on 15 June
1965 Line closed on 29 March.
