Newcastle & North Shields Railway
- 21/07/1836 On the third attemp an Act of Parliament passed authorising a line from Pilgrim Street, Newcastle to North Shields' Quay.
- 20/06/1839 Line opened from a temporary terminus in Carliol Square to North Shields. The planned terminus at Pilgrim Street was never built.
- 06/1845 Act of Parliament obtained to extend line to Tynemouth.
- 07/1846 N&NSR merges with Newcastle & Berwick Railway.
- 29/03/1847 Tynemouth extension opened.
- 09/08/1847 N&BR amalgamated with York & Newcastle Railway to form York, Newcastle & Berwick Railway.
- 29/08/1850 Line extended to Newcastle Central. Carliol Square closed and Manors opened.
- 03/07/1882 End-on connection made with ex-B&TR at Tynemouth to form coastal loop.
