6.5 mile double track line from a junction with N&CR immediately east of Scotwood station to West Wylam Junction also on the N&CR.

16.06/1871 Scotswood, Newburn & Wylam Railway & Dock Company passed by parliament.
04/1872 Construction began.
12/07/1875 Opened Scotswood to Newburn. Operated by the NER on behalf of SN&WR.
07/04/1876 Act of Parliament for the abandonment of proposed dock on the Tyne.
13/05/1876 Opened Newburn to North Wylam
10/1876 Opened North Wylam to West Wylam Junction.
29/06/1883 NER, which had operated the line from opening, take over SN&WR.
01/12/1986 Line closed.
