6.5 mile loop running from Riverside Junction (NZ 264649) between Manors and Heaton and Percy Main West Junction (NZ 333672) to the west of Percy Main station on the former N&NSR.
- 13/07/1871 NER authorised to build the branch, which was to serve the rapidly growing industrial area on the north bank of the River Tyne.
- 01/05/1879 Opened.
- 1904 Passenger services electrified..
- 23/07/1973 Passenger service withdrawn.
- 31/05/1978 Carville Swan Hunter Siding to Percy Main West Junction closed.
- 01/04/1987 St Peters Shepherds Scrap Siding to Carville Swan Hunter Siding closed.
- 31/03/1988 Riverside Junction to St Peters Shepherds Scrap Siding closed.
