Taken on the last but one day of 'heavy rail' services from Tynemouth to Newcastle, a DMU waits to depart for Newcastle Central via Wallsend. Lurking In the far distance is a metro train, which would soon begin service from Tynemouth to Newcastle via Monkseaton as the first stage of the Metro project. 09/8/1980.
