Wansbeck Railway
Single track line from Morpeth to Reedsmouth with intermediate stations at Meldon, Angerton, Middleton, Scotsgap, Knowesgate and Woodburn.
- 1859 Wansbeck Railway Company formed. Wansbeck Railway Act authorises building of a line from Morpeth to Reedsmouth on the Border Counties Railway.
- 1862 Line Opens to Scotsgap on 23 July from the Blyth & Tyne station at Morpeth.
- 1863 In October line opens to Knowesgate. Wansbeck Railway amalgamates with North British Railway.
- 1865 Line opens fully to Reedsmouth on 1 May.
- 1872 Line diverted to NER station obviating the need for reversals into the B&T station.
- 1952 Passenger service withdrawn on 13 September
- 1963 Goods service withdrawn beyond Woodburn on 11 November.
- 1966 Last goods train runs on 29 September, 'Wansbeck Piper' excursion ran on 2 October, line closed 3 October.
